Dali is museum

The museum of Dali in Figueres is a surrealist showcase of the artist's eccentric imagination, created by Dali himself out of the former town theatre where he hed his first exhibition. Inaugurated in 1974, the Dali Theatre-Museum is one of more visited museums of Spain and contains the broadest range of works spanning the artistic career of Salvador Dali (1904-1989), from his earliest artistic experiences and his creations within the Surrealist movement down to the works of the last years of his life.

Famous Works of Salvador Dali Among the art on display in the museum are many world famous pieces that span more than 60 years of the great artist's life. There is the 'Shoe and the Glass of Milk' from 1932 and represented in mixed media format from 1975; the 'Soft Self-portrait with Fried Bacon' on canvas from 1941, and the 'Fifty abstract images in which we see, three metres away, three Lenins characterised as Chinamen and together forming a royal tiger's muzzle' from 1963. Getting to Figueres Figueres is easily accessible via the international airport at Barcelona. Alternatively, visitors can fly into Perpignan airport in Southern France, which is marginally closer to Figueres.
