We start the trip in Ljubljana main square (marked by the famous three bridges across river Ljubljanica) and then follow the river upstream toward its sources on the slopes of The Snow mountain (Snežnik, 1794m). Ljubljanica is not just a normal river with one un-interrupted flow from its source to the confluence near Ljubljana.

This is a river that flows on the limestone karst surface and often dissapears in undergrounds caves and then reappears on the surface with a different name a couple of kilometres further away. Along its path the river Ljubljanica created word famous tourist attractions, such as Postojna and Planina Cave, Rakov Škocjan karst Valley and Cerknica Intermittent lake. By visiting these attractions and tasting local cuisine the trip will slowly take us all the way to the fairytale castle bellow the Snow mountain, where Ljubljanica gets its waters.

This is also an entrance to the biggest stretch of woods in Central Europe, still home to bears, wolfes and bobcats that can be observed on our photo-safari trips.
