Discover the medieval fortifications around Brasov! Starting with Harman, one of the most important seven medieval fortifications of Saxon Transilvania, you will slide back in time towards the 13th century. The fortification of Prejmer offers a clear view of Transilvanian peasant defense stations and was included on UNESCO's List of World Cultural Heritage for it's exquisite state of preservation. It's walls safely guarded the local inhabitans for centuries agains Turks, Pols, Russians and other invadors. Today they stand as proof for the simple but effective way of protection used by our ancestors. The tour continues across the mountains towards the resort of Sinaia for visiting the gorgeous Peles Castle, the former Summer Residence of the Romanian royal family. The german style building is unique in Romania and was the most modern castle in the world as it was build. Just look at the movie theatre, the central heating system and the central vacuum cleaner installed already in the 1880s. And after a walk and maybe a coffee or a nice lunch in the mountains we descent again to Transilvania to the local castle in Bran, made so very famous by Romania born actor of Hungarian descent Bela Lugosi - yes: the notorious Dracula Castle. Standing "high upon a rock" as Bram Stoker described it, Bran Castle awayts the visitor to find out more about it's history and it's relation to the blood-thirsty Wallachian prince Vlad the Impeller Dracula.
