Private Guide in Treviso:

I was 16 when I took my first trip to Spain. We were a group of young art and culture enthusiasts and, once we were inside the El Escorial Palace in Madrid, I was deeply struck by a tourist guide: she was a beautiful woman, elegant, enthusiastic and professional. I didn’t miss a word of what she said, but, most of all, I never forgot what went beyond her words: the deep love she had for her city. On that day I decided that I also wanted to show to visitors my wonderful city through my eyes.
After completing linguistic studies in a well-known Venetian institute, I chose to study history of art at the Cą Foscari University of Venice. I have followed a somewhat heterogeneous course of studies, because I was interested in several aspects of culture and art, not just on artistic production in a narrow sense. Therefore I studied a lot of literature, geography, theatre, cinema, foreign languages and literature. I have concentrated my specific exams mostly on 16th century Venetian art: Giorgione, Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese, as well as ancient art and, obviously, contemporary art.
I have been an authorised tourist guide since 1998 and this is my main professional activity. As from the same year, I also work part time for the Commune of Venice; after having worked in various offices and developed different experiences, I now take care of my city’s culture: first in Venice’s Civic Museums as Art Historian, and now at the Cultural Activities and Productions Management. This is for me a very good “institutional” contact point with Venice’s real and cultural life.
I carry out the activity of Tourist Guide in two provinces: Venice and Treviso, including all the Veneto Villas of the Region. From 2003 to 2006 I held the position of Deputy-Chairperson of the Tourist Guides of the Province of Treviso Association and I became Chairperson in 2006.
I am also the Chairperson of the Artemente Cultural Association, whose aim is to valorise and promote the region of Veneto through the organisation of guided tours, meetings, seminars, communication and training.
Some of my collaborations, amongst others:
-The miniature portraits of the Venetian Civic Museum’s collections, 2007, ed. Marsilio;
- Sfere del cielo, sfere della terra. Globi celesti e terrestri dal XVI al XX secolo (Spheres of the sky, spheres of land. Celestial and terrestrial globes from the 15th to the 20th century.) An exhibition held at the Correr Museum, Venice;
- Incroci di civiltą (Crossroads of civilisations), International Meetings of Literature in Venice, promoted by the Comune of Venice and the Cą Foscari University.
- Il Tempo della Cura. Ricerca e innovazione per il recupero e la conservazione dell’opera d’arte. (The Time for Care. Research and innovation for the recovery and conservation of the work of art.) Convention held at Gorgo al Monticano, 9th April 2010.
By personal and professional choice, I take care of the learning and spreading of my region’s culture.
The Venice and Veneto area is complex, rich, and heterogeneous; the study of each of its aspects requires dedication, passion, time and is, substantially, never ending. Continuous updating and studying are the basis of my work, because I believe it is very important that I offer the visitors all the possible tools for an exhaustive and emotional learning of our country, keeping in mind, every time, the needs of those that I accompany.
And than, I have to say that…..I am Venetian. I love to travel, I fall in love with several of the places I see and I have studied abroad but...I am Venetian. Being Venetian means knowing the city even in its most hidden parts, it means knowing by heart where the silent and muffled alleys are located, the improbable views, and the real daily life of those working and living in this city.
A careful and sensible visitor wants to discover this too. All my tours include this kind of visits and experiences, in such a way that those coming to Venice feel Venetian, even if just for a few hours.
